Technology Support Helpline

The innovative Technology Support Helpline is the first service of its kind in Israel which provides real-time phone support for people with blindness or visual impairment in their use of computers, smartphones, tablets and other technological devices.  The helpline is open five days a week, fielding enquiries in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and English. It is manned by a team of people who are themselves blind or visually-impaired and are experienced users of assistive technology who have been trained in providing technological support over the phone. In addition to supporting individuals, the Helpline also advises businesses in adapting online services for use by people with visual disability, and assists actual and potential employers of people with blindness or visual impairment prepare the workplace for inclusion.

The Technology Support Helpline deals with the following:

·       Guidance for home-users on Internet, Office, mobile phones and more, with and without screen-reader and magnifying software

·       Use of computers and smartphones in the workplace

·       Training new employees in the use of in specialized software and applications

·       Assessment and advice on accessibility of computer work stations

·       Customer support for websites offering online services

·       Advice for website developers on accessibility issues

אודות מגדל אור

מגדל אור הוא מרכז רב-שירותי העוסק בשיקום תפקודי ותעסוקתי של אנשים עם לקויות ראייה או עיוורון, והוא משמש, בית היתר, כזכיין של המוסד לביטוח לאומי, משרד הרווחה והשירותים החברתיים. מגדל אור הוקם בשנת 1954 ומשנת 2011 מופעל באמצעות עמותת "יעדים לצפון", מיסודה של קרן רש"י.
