Technology Support Center

The Technology Support Center operates a Technology Helpline – the first service of its kind in Israel and the world – which provides real-time phone support for people with blindness or visual impairment in their use of computers, smartphones, tablets and other various technological devices.  The helpline is open for callers five days a week, fielding enquiries in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and English. It is manned by a team of people who are themselves blind or visually-impaired, are experienced users of assistive technology and have been trained in providing technological support over the phone.

In addition, the Technology Support Center advises and directs businesses in adapting online services for use by people with visual disability, and assists actual and potential employers of people with blindness or visual impairment prepare the workplace for inclusion.

The Technology Support Center deals with the following:

·       Helping users of computers with specialized software and applications, including Internet and Office programs

·       Assisting users of smartphones and other devices based on IOS and Android systems

·       Guiding new employees in the use of various computer applications

·       Assessing accessibility of computerized work stations

·       Providing customer support for online services

·       Advising website developers in accessibility issues for people with blindness or visual impairment

אודות מגדל אור

מגדל אור הוא מרכז רב-שירותי העוסק בשיקום תפקודי ותעסוקתי של אנשים עם לקויות ראייה או עיוורון, והוא משמש, בית היתר, כזכיין של המוסד לביטוח לאומי, משרד הרווחה והשירותים החברתיים. מגדל אור הוקם בשנת 1954 ומשנת 2011 מופעל באמצעות עמותת "יעדים לצפון", מיסודה של קרן רש"י.
